Venmo’s Restful Coolness
Image via CrunchBase
@kortina and friends have a slick social payment service out called Venmo. I was assaulted by an SMS notification issue (maybe resulting a half dozen extra texts) and whined on Twitter. Because Kortina explicitly “trusts” me in the Venmo system, I can take money out his account unilaterally. To combat my whining, he sent me a URL representing $5.
https://venmo.com/kortina?txn=charge&amount=5¬e=for%20not%20making%20new%20sms%20alert%20prefs%20yet
Without much work that URL says what it does. Click it and it “charges Kortina $5 for not making new SMS alert prefs yet.”
That’s how REST oughta work.
