President Obama Speaks to the Muslim World from Cairo, Egypt

I’m not sure yet how the domestic efforts of the new administration are stimulating change, but I’m quite impressed with the rapid changes in how we represent our nation to the rest of the world.

This speech runs 55min and I recommend you take the time to watch the whole thing.  Obama is hopeful, apologetic, firm, and somber—he appeals to each emotion to great effect, but simple reason is the foundation of the entire speech.  Simple tenets ( “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” ) remind us what we all have in common and should guide us in resolving our differences.

I could not help but feel I was watching something historic, like something out of Thucydides.
