Vim Autocomplete
ctrl+n and ctrl+p are the autocomplete commands in vim.
Was looking for this as I’m spending a lot of time in Vim today. Google led me to:
Consider you have following file contents.
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /somefilepath1/.* RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /somefilepath2/.*
Now if you want to add another RewriteCond, and you have reached till “Rewri”
All you have to do is press Ctrl+P,...

Sync Config Files with Dropbox
I just moved some important configuration files into my Dropbox folder so that my command line utilities and preferences follow me across multiple machines. Plus, I know have a backup of these files, which have been continually customized over years and are very valuable to me now. I highly recommend doing this.
mv ~/.bash_profile ~/Dropbox/nix/bash_profile ln -s ~/Dropbox/nix/bash_profile...

Gmail App Store
I’m using about 10 Gmail Plugins from the “Labs” section (just enabled Canned-Responses, eg) and am thinking about 10 more features that I want to have. I know 3rd party developers can develop gadgets for Gmail, but these are pretty well sandboxed right now.
Gmail needs to open up deeper access with the plugin architecture and create a marketplace for developers to sell plugins....

A Little Twitter Tool I Want
When someone follows me on Twitter, say, @userX, do a Summize search for tweets to:@userX and filter to those that were authored by my friends. I want some quick context of how I might know this person and what my friends are saying to this person.
Please let me know if this exists or if you build this!

Risk Tolerance is a Competitive Weapon
For example, when PayPal first launched, it was pretty clear that their product violated the operating rules for Visa, Mastercard and American Express — and violated banking regulations is more than 40 different states.
PayPal’s bet was that they could ultimate resolve these issues after their product had won in the marketplace. (And that if they didn’t win in the...

Improving Oral Health by Changing Diet
My teeth stopped decaying and some breakage (broken tooth due to mechanical damage, 5 years ago) begun sealing itself with new enamel on my high animal fat, low carb diet of the last 10 years. I still have all my teeth including wisdom teeth. My teeth no longer develop plaque/scale and thus no need to descale, and I no longer develop cold sores on my gums. I haven’t been to a dentist since...

Tumblr Search / SEO - ARRGG!
Tonight I was trying to find a link to this post on my blog of a great cover of Hey Jude: http://bit.ly/aG4H
It took me 2 failed searches using Tumblr search ( blog.kortina.net/search/term ), 2 failed Google searches, and a third Google search that finally led me to Disqus where after 2 pages I was able to locate the post.
If I can’t even find things I know that I posted here, how is...

Bye Bye Amazon Affiliate Arbitrage - From My Inbox
Dear Amazon Associate:
We’re writing to let you know about a change to the Amazon Associates Program. After careful review of how we are investing our advertising resources, we have made the decision to no longer pay referral fees to Associates who send users to www.amazon.com, www.amazon.ca, or www.endless.com through keyword bidding and other paid search on Google, Yahoo, MSN, and other...

Easy, Efficient Alternating Rows Toggle CSS Class
I’m sure this is not a new thing, but I thought this was a pretty slick move that I came up with today:
var even_row = 0; for (var i=0; i < items.length; i++) { html += “<li class=’r”+even_row+”’>”; html += items[0]; html += “</li>”; even_row = 1 - even_row; };
I don’t think I’ve ever realized the sugar that...
A Big Week for Little URLs
betaworks:
bitly:
We had a busy week at bit.ly. We announced our funding, decoded almost 24 million clicks, and saw some great posts on the subject of link shortening.
bit.ly is already starting to evolve beyond URL shortening but shortening is core to the work flow so here are our views. We believe URL shorteners are an important part of the emerging social distribution network. As...

Reversing Tooth Decay (among other things)
alimentary:
kortina:
a decaying or broken tooth has the ability to heal itself. Pulp contains cells called odontoblasts, which form new dentin if the diet is good.
…
In group 1, oatmeal prevented healing and encouraged new cavities, presumably due to its ability to prevent mineral absorption. In group 2, simply adding vitamin D to the diet caused most cavities to heal and fewer to form....

Twitter Biz Idea for the Time Rich
Think of this like selling a MMORPG account that has lots of money/items.
1. Figure out how to amass followers—in a certain niche. A possible option: expect 10-20% follow backs when you follow strangers. If you want to sell the account to a technologist, follow anyone who talks about iPhone or foursquare, or some other germane topic. Another option: start retweeting people in your niche or...
